DANCE COMPETITION – JANUARY 2023
Dance teaches children about music, rhythm and beat. The dancing girls now have a better understanding of spatial awareness.
Creative thinking skills are developed through dance, as well as learning the value of discipline, commitment and work ethic, self-confidence has developed as these young girls learned to overcome the challenge. The girls have learned to apply themselves and accomplish the task put before them, of learning a routine, with synchronicity.
Dance teaches the importance of movement and fitness in a variety of ways through a variety of disciplines. As well, dancers learn to coordinate muscles to move through proper positions.
Working on this routine has taught the girls the importance of being part of something larger than themselves. They have learned to share attention, and to cooperate with others as they work within a group.
What makes me so proud of these girls is their resilience to overcome the barriers to learning their routine, the lack of time available and how to present themselves during the routine etc. They have given so much of their own time as well as their school break times to practice the routine and get to know the music; rhythm, beat and timing. Their commitment is admirable.
During their performance, they are marked on their costume and appearance, synchronisation/timing, choreography and creativity and overall performance.
