HCAT FOOTBALL FESTIVAL

A superb morning of football organised and officiated by Horizon Community College.  The children played in the intense heat of the unusual summer temperatures.  With four games being played simultaneously both for boys and girls, there wasn’t much time for a break between matches, just enough time to take on some water and then straight into another game.  Well done to both Birdwell teams, you played your hearts out, even with the disadvantage of playing y4, y5 and Y6 in our teams against some tough all-Y6 teams, you certainly proved your worth, and you were on par with every team you played, making it through to semi-finals, and the girls making it to the final – cruelly, both semi-finals and final went on the penalties, but you held your nerve.  Well done, we are so proud of you and how you conducted yourself at the festival and the sportsmanship you displayed.  Silver medals for girls and third place for boys – not bad at all for a morning’s toil in the heat.  Thank you to SGO Horizon for a fantastic morning of well-organised football.
