TAG RUGBY – MARCH 2023
Our tag rugby team had to learn how to play and the rules incredibly quickly and ‘on the job’, but they showed resilience as they learned that in the game of tag rugby, an attacker can dodge the defender, pass to a supporting player, and look for, or run into a space. To be a successful attacker, players need to have excellent hand-eye coordination. They had to use their skill to pass the ball accurately and be aware of where their teammates are. Sometimes they were caught out with forward passes and being pushed out of play when running too near the line, but they did not give up, after a couple of warm-up games, they had it, and if they had started as well as they finished the tournament it could have been a very different story.
To say they had never played before, to finish 4th with only one point difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, they didn’t do too bad at all. Well done team Birdwell, it was a very enjoyable afternoon watching your progress.
