YEAR 5 P.E. – GYMNASTICS
This half term we began a new P.E. topic which is Gymnastics. Teaching gymnastics to children helps to develop their cognitive functions, strengthen their bones, bolsters coordination, promotes discipline and self-control, promotes strength and fitness, enhances flexibility and posture, and it is a good start for a healthy life. The children worked in pairs with a child who already know gymnastics well working with another child who doesn’t practise gymnastics. All children really worked hard on jumps and rolls which our gymnasts made look really easy. We learned balance, jumps and rolls, then put everything we had learned into a routine to share with the class. It was hard work, but our gymnasts made each move look so easy. They were terrific instructors and scrutinised their partner’s moves and corrected where needed.
