YEAR 5 PE – RUGBY SKILLS

Today, I had the very rare pleasure of teaching a PE lesson.  In Y5 we’re learning rugby skills.  In the game of tag rugby, an attacker can dodge the defender, pass to a supporting player, and look for, or run into a space. To be a successful attacker, players need to have excellent hand-eye coordination. They will use this skill to pass the ball accurately, and be aware of where their teammates are.

We learned passing and catching the rugby ball safely and at speed.  We learned side stepping to avoid being tackled, then we had some fun on the tackle bags.

Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create
